Jeena began dancing at the age of 2 when she started studying Ballet, Modern, and Tap. Throughout her childhood she attended conservatories where she studied Ballet, Modern, Tap, Lyrical, and Flamenco. Jeena developed a strong passion for dance and decided to further her education by attending a magnet performing arts high school known as New World School of the Arts. There, she further developed her artistic skills and began training in different Modern techniques such as Limón, Horton, Graham, Paul Taylor, and Cunningham. She also further developed her Ballet, Composition, and Improvisation skills. At her high school Jeena had the opportunity of working with renowned artists within the Dance community such as Peter London, Gerard Ebitz, Lara Murphy, Jeffery Smith, Tina Santos and more. In addition to her passion for dance she always had a love for Marine Biology. Jeena decided to attend the University of Florida and pursue both Dance and Marine Biology. At the University of Florida, she was involved in over 15 performances and took technique classes at the School of Theatre and Dance to further develop her skills in Ballet, Modern, and Composition/Improvisation. She also began taking West African Dance and was a teaching assistant for this course. She is now attending graduate school to obtain her master’s in Marine Science to focus on sea turtle conservation and research while also teaching dance when she can.
